Winners of reality shows don't invest the cash into their career- Appietus
Multiple hit producer Appietus, hit the studio with Okomfuor Kwadee to possibly find the comeback hit single that will re-launch Kwadee’s career.
Many have written Kwadee off but The Man in the Mix believes Okomfuor “is well now”.
“People seem to disagree with me but when it comes to sickness the only thing you do is to support the person get out of that state and not to point fingers and shun the person. I don’t know why people want to put him in the state of not-being-well.
“When it comes to mental wellness, I think anyone who can be around us and not do anything contrary to what is happening is well.” Appietus added. “Kwadee is sound and he came to the studio and we recorded a song that might just land on my compilation or his album.”
As judge for hit music reality TV Show Vodafone Icons, the producer shared his thoughts on how winners of the prize money suffer after winning.
“Most often than not, when they win and get hold of the money. A lot of plans run into their heads and before they realize, the money is spent on things other than the music career dream they came on TV to chase. Some also look very promising but when they are evicted at a point or they don’t win, they give up on the dream and lose hope. And let the grooming and all the training go to waste.
“Ghanaians always wish you well but never support you with their resources. People shout the names of contestants like their lives depend on it but will never pick their phones and vote and when the contestant is evicted they claim foul play forgetting we are counting votes casted and not the loudest noise.
“If you believe in the talent that much and don’t want them kicked out why don’t you support them with your resources too so they win the competition and be the star you want them be. It’s like people who follow a politician around to all his campaigns and complain of fatigue and not going to vote on Election Day and comes to complain their candidate was cheated.
"The music industry is a push and pull affair, everyone is pulling all the resources they have to push their career forward and you must do same, you don’t fold your arms and stand akimbo and think your dreams are going to be realized by luck. No, even when you have made a monster hit, you are pushing for another hit song.
"If you win GHC 50,000 and a car and you don’t use it to push your music then you had your own plans before you came to the competition. A lot of them win and everyone wants to advise them on to invest the money elsewhere which is not their music career and that’s how many of them never make it. If they invested their wining monies right back into their career, many of them will have been mainstream by now."
