With the highly anticipated 87th edition of the Oscars award set to hold at the Dolby Theatre Los Angeles tonight, craftsmen have designed the Oscar’s iconic statuettes of 24 carat gold that will be presented at the ceremony to the deserving celebrities at the event.
Each of the 13.5 inches tall and a hefty 8.5lbs trophies, which are manufactured by the skilled craftsmen of R S Owens, is made of a variant of pewter, a special alloy called britannium made especially for Oscar figures.
In photos, how the craftsmen designed the iconic award is captured.
