Will Smith admits his teenage children are ‘difficult’...
Will Smith has admitted it is very difficult having teenagers in the house, especially in the case of 14-year old Willow whose ‘world ends three times a week’.
The ‘Focus’ star, who has 14-year old Willow and 16-year old Jaden with his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, has admitted his daughter commands ‘90 per cent’ of the attention in their home. He said:
‘We have teenagers in the house, so it’s very difficult. 90 per cent of the focus is Willow; a 14-year old girl takes all of the attention. ‘It’s everything; it’s like the world ends three times a week.
It’s like 14-year old girl’s independence day at my house every week.’ The 46-year old actor recalled a time where his ‘Whip My Hair’ singer daughter gave him a ‘disdainful sneer’ when the family lost their cat after he mistakenly left a door open. He explained: ‘So she has these cats and she loves these cats and we live out in the boonies so I accidentally left one of the doors open and she can’t find the cat and it’s a bad look for cats in my neighbourhood because there’s coyotes and stuff out there, they’re not gonna make it.
‘So she’s very upset and she looked at me and tears welled up in her eyes and she said, ‘I cannot believe you would be that irresponsible.’ There’s nothing that destroys the heart of a middle-aged man like the disdainful sneer of a 14-year old girl.’
The family eventually found the cat but while Will was on the phone to his wife, asking what he should do, he was approached by an angry Willow, who felt as though her father wasn’t making enough effort to locate the missing pet.
Speaking on The Late Show with David Letterman, he recalled: ‘I called Jada to figure out what to do and Willow walked up and I was on the phone and that was too much for her. [She said,] ‘The least you could do was look.’...
