Reigning Miss Akwaaba ,Naa Dede a first year student of the Ghana Institute of Journalism , has been
crowned Face of G.I.J 2015.
The colourful ceremony that saw her compete
against fourteen other ladies of the institution was held at the International Trade Fair Centre on Friday, 17th April, 2015 and was moderately
patronised by students.
The contestants strove to demonstrate their
intelligence, creativity and eloquence at various stages of the
competition in order to impress the panel of judges ,the contestants went through three competitive rounds of speech
delivery, talent showcase and the make-or-break question.
After the
first two rounds, 5 contestants were dropped and the remaining five
progressed to the final stage of the competition where they had to
answer questions from the judges. Prior to the main event, the
contestants were taken through sessions of grooming which includes catwalk, talent, speech delivery, public speaking, dress rehearsals, walking in heels and other activities.
The mood of the show was generally exuberant as many fans screamed
and clapped to cheer up their favourite contestants. The talent stage of
the competition was a particularly impressive one. Many of the
contestants took to the stage to demonstrate their dance moves.
The event was interspersed with performances by many wannabe
students artists such as Damiloka , Alan and Co , Ass etc. and was hosted by Jay Kojo Daasebre ( Campus Base Tv ) and Naa Achawa Sackey ( Ghana Most Beautiful 2014 ) contestant.
Justina Odoi, 1st runner up and Ekua Daniels, 2nd runner
up as well as Miss Eloquent.
The event is organised by SRC Womens Commission who are in charge of women empowerment in the institution. The theme of the peagent is to empower women enterprenuership.
