Tyra Banks is being sued by a former contestant of her modeling reality show “America’s Next Top Model“. Angelea Preston is seeking at least $3 million in the breach-of-contract suit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, December 10. The lawsuit names both Tyra and The CW as the defendants. According to the lawsuit obtained by Rumor Fix, Angelea won Cycle 17 of “America’s Next Top Model” in 2011but was never given the prizes which included a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl cosmetics and a magazine fashion spread. She said she was disqualified because of her background as an escort. Angelea claimed the producers had already acknowledged her past one year before she was cast on the show. The legal documents also stated that Tyra also knew about Angelea’s past. “During an unaired, but filmed scene near the conclusion of the series, Preston, in tears thanked Defendant Tyra Banks for ‘changing her life,’ ” the documents read, “Specifically Preston stated to defendant Tyra Banks that she has ‘done things in the past that she was not proud of.’ Defendant Tyra Banks inquired, ‘What things?’ Preston replied, ‘Things I’m not proud of to get money.’ ” The CW has released a statement to TheWrap regarding the issue. “As noted during the broadcast of the ‘America’s Next Top Model’ finale in 2011, information about Angelea was learned after production wrapped on that cycle that led to her disqualification from the competition,” the statement read, “We are confident that her lawsuit has no merit.” Tyra’s representative, meanwhile, has not commented on the issue yet.
