A reliable source has, however, leaked some interesting screenshots depicting the WhatsApp calling feature.<br /><br />The leaked images circulating on the Internet show the new version of WhatsApp with voice calling. The screenshots also suggest that the upgraded version will have a separate window for making calls to WhatsApp contacts and a dedicated call log. <br /><br />Users can keep a tab on missed calls, on-going calls and received calls through this window. Additionally, the voice-calling feature includes options like call muting and switching from voice to text message.<br /><br />These are just leaked pictures. As to whether they represent the actual features WhatsApp is working to add as voice calling, we’re yet to confirm. The good news is that we know WhatsApp has been working on this upgrade for some time now. Jan Koum, CEO of WhatsApp, said in an industry conference that the company will be rolling out the voice calling feature in Q1 2015. The release has been delayed due to technical complications that the development team is facing.<br /> <br /> If WhatsApp succeeds in overcoming all these technical complications and introduces a new WhatsApp with voice calling feature, will it be a threat to the likes of Viber, Line and Facebook Messenger? Would it be any different from Viber and Skype?

Use programmes like Redphone, like Silent Circle - anything by Moxie Marlinspike and Open Whisper System."
