Rhymes album at the Holiday Inn.<br>
With twenty five songs, nineteen featured artists<br>
and eleven producers working on the piece, the<br>
Zero to Hero rapper believes this current effort is<br>
more than an album.<br>
“If you think I have changed, you should go into<br>
a shop and buy this album, that’s what I always<br>
tell the fans. If you think the Volta Regime Edem<br>
was dopper than the current Edem then you<br>
should go get album.<br>
“To me every album is an era. It’s a mood; it’s a<br>
twist or turn. What the fans have to realize is that<br>
I don’t sleep on studio carpets anymore. I don’t<br>
take trotro to the studio anymore. I don’t walk to<br>
the studio any more. I don’t hear the conductors<br>
shout the areas their trotro will be passing<br>
through anymore.” The rapper bragged.<br>
“My line of thought has changed. I sit in board<br>
meetings; I sit in very serious meetings, so I<br>
can’t create a Volta Regime album for you<br>
anymore. But I can create another album that will<br>
sink in and make you feel there is that growth. If<br>
people don’t accept it, they are only in denial of<br>
the fact that, they don’t want change.”</p>

Reminiscing on his come up, the rapper revealed:</div>

“I met Hammer in 2003 and that’s when I became a soldier in his camp. It was exciting. I usually say I met Hammer in 1999, once I heard <strong><em>Pae Mu Ka</em></strong>, I was in Primary there about and I knew this was the person I wanted to work with. But meeting Hammer was a different experience. You are looking at somebody who will turn off your phone when you step into his studio.</div>

“When we were recording <strong><em>You Dey Craze</em></strong> for instance, he made everyone rewrite his lines more than once; I don’t know how to express it but he knows how to  make you grow, make you identify what your strength is and make you push that hard in that particular area. And he knows when you are ready to face the world.”</div>

“Because with someone like me, people said a lot of things to Hammer but he didn’t lose faith in me but it was people who were thinking I was a bad move from him to record me right after making a border crossing hit like <strong><em>Kiss the Bride</em></strong> with <strong>Bolley</strong> and using<strong><em>Ewe</em></strong> as a comeback was a bad investment.</div>

“I remember sitting next to Hammer one time and a couple of other people and a very renowned Ghanaian artist told me, ‘Edem, you won’t make it’ that was in 2007 at Chances Hotel and we were sitting around the pool and that picture is still up in my head.  All I said to my self was ‘You’ll need me for a feature and I won’t do it.</div>

Award-winning sound engineer, Hammer of ‘Last Two’, has stated that most of the musicians in Ghana do not attach any professionalism to the trade.<br /><br />According to him, most of these artistes now do their music in a freestyle manner, and noted that this is affecting the industry.<br /><br />Edward Nana Poku Osei, as he is known in real life, disclosed that he had converted his ‘Last Two Music Group’ studio into a private one which allows him to handpick certain breed of artistes who are creative and exhibit professionalism when it comes to music.<br /><br />“It seems to us that most of the artistes now do things like the freestyle; they just do things from the head. The way they go about their stuff is not quite professional, so we decided to go back and deal with artistes that we feel deserve to work with us.<br /><br />“I don’t do mass production. My studio is a private studio now and I have the power to choose who I want to work with. It is not like the commercial studio that you can walk into and just pay money and record.  We are quite ‘choosey’. We want a particular breed of artiste to work with. With regard to professionalism and creativity, we want a certain calibre of artistes,” he told NEWS-ONE.<br /><br />Hammer is one of the producers responsible for training and producing some of Ghana’s recognised hip-life acts like Obrafour, Edem, Okra Tom Dawidi and Kwaw Kese among others.His ‘Last Two’ record label recently signed on a new lyrical soldier called Tee Flow.<br /><br /><br /><br />By  Nii Ogbamey Tetteh
